A talented and gifted film-actress, producer, model and American singer. A woman who was one of the greatest singers in the world, and had the best voice of all time. A legendary woman throughout her wonderful years of life. Yet strong, but faced many struggles and challenges in her life, and still left a positive impact on the world after succumbing to death in February 2012.
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born on August 9, 1963 in Newark, New Jersey. She grew up singing gospel music as a young girl in her church choir with family members, and with her mother, the choir director. It was ordained that she would be a singer when she grew up. At the age of 15, Whitney was trying to capture a record deal of her own. While she tried to acquire a record deal, she was discovered by a photographer. Once discovered by the photographer, she was instantly named a famous teenage model, and was the first African American woman to be pictured on the cover of Seventeen magazine.

She was immediately signed and her career took off from there. She was first pictured on national television in 1983 on The Merv Griffin Show to sing “Home” from a famous musical called The Wiz. With the support of Clive, she released her first album in 1985. Whitney’s debut album was immediately a hit and reached top charts.
