Out of all the general public figures throughout the different eras, there is one that left a mark on me; he stayed faithful to his moral convictions till the end and he paid it with his life, thanks to his achievements, the world is a better place for millions of people. Martin Luther King led the Civil Rights Movement in the USA from the mid-1950s until his assassination in 1968. By studying the life and example of King we learn that his moral values of integrity, love, truth, equity, compassion, non-violence, fulfillment and peace were what motivated him. King is not great because he is well known, he is great because he served the cause of peace and justice for all humans. King is remembered for his humanity, his leadership and his love for his neighbor, regardless of skin color. He inspired people to trust him. He was an effective communicator by helping others understand what he was trying to achieve. He was trustworthy and able to communicate a vision. He sought responsibility and assumed responsibility for his actions. He guided the people who followed him to new heights, and when things went wrong, Dr. King did not blame others, instead he took the blame. Non-violence is a very important moral value that shapes the character of any great leader.
