The misdeeds of lady Macbeth
Lady macbeth is a villain so heinous she caused the death of scores of people in her life and after her death. Though she did not commit a single act of murder first hand, she caused the hand of Macbeth to strike. Because of her greed she ruined her husband and the lives of those around her. I question her sanity. If we look at the battle at the end of Macbeth, the events leading up to it can be traced all the way back to her. This shows that she still caused death post mortem. I am going to examine these critical moments to prove that Lady Macbeth is the cause of the tragedy in this play.
Macbeth was a loyal and kind servant to the king of Scotland. Before the events of this play, no one would ever suspect Macbeth
She’s more of the brains behind the plan to kill King Duncan rather than the actual murderer. In Act 1: Scene 5, she receives the letter from Macbeth and she says “Yet I do fear thy nature; It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness”, she knows that he will end up not wanting to go through with their plan. Although he could have said no she still pushed him to proceed. Maybe if Macbeth would’ve put his foot down instead of cowering down and doing whatever Lady Macbeth said, he wouldn’t be in the predicament of having to kill his friends that he is in now. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are much like Adam and Eve.
Macbeth thinks they could fail “if we should fail” Macbeth is scared if they will fail on killing Duncan, but Lady Macbeth is persistent on Macbeth killing Duncan. Lady Macbeth will blame the death on Duncan’s guards so she is sure they can get away with the murder. The writer is showing Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth speaks these lines in Act I after reading a message from Macbeth.
It's true that people can get away with doing something bad, but not all people can get-a-way with it, Macbeth tried it and his became world chaotic. We can not take the good without the bad. There will always be consequences to the things we do . Sometimes we are blind by the things we want and no we can never get
However, this is not true. Lady Macbeth did not influence Macbeth into the thought of murdering his king. It was Macbeth’s own free will. Macbeth is the sole reason that all of this turmoil has happened, not Lady Macbeth. Yes, Lady Macbeth is conniving, but she did not play a significant role in the actual murder of the king.
Lady Macbeth had urged her husband to stop being good and loyal, to put emotions aside and kill Duncan in order to seize the throne, but she herself could not follow her own advice. At first, she tries to convince herself about what must be done, and in act 1, scene 5, asks, “ Come, thick night, And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell, That my keen knife see not the wound it makes” She was entirely willing to commit the act herself, and even Macbeth was surprised to see her resolve, stating, “ Bring forth men-children only, For thy undaunted mettle should compose Nothing but males.” In act 1, scene 7, she says that, “We fail?... we’ll not fail.” She seems strong, and convinced that nothing they will do will go wrong, but her character’s strength seems to dwindle in act 2, scene 2, where she makes a bold claim, “ Had he not resembled My father as he slept, I had done ’t.”
She challenges and drives Macbeth to kill King Duncan. “Quote” Had Lady Macbeth not persuaded her weak husband to kill duncan, this whole quarrel would have been avoided . Although Lady Macbeth started it, she was not a pure villain. In Act 5, scene 1 she has nightmares while sleepwalking about Banquo and the blood on her hands. A real villain would not feel guilty after committing a crime.
If anyone is responsible for the death of Macbeth, it is Lady Macbeth. She pressured him into killing all of the people he murdered throughout the story. Macbeth never felt comfortable with the murders he committed and his guilt showed, which lead people to suspect him of all of the killings. Additionally, Macbeth is defeated after Lady Macbeth’s death, indication he did all of his awful deeds for his wife.
No other woman seems to be important or worthy enough to hold any sort of unsurpassable power. That is what makes her more culpable than the rest, her circumstances give her the most motive and ambition for never ending power. Lady Macbeth bears responsibility for the demise of Macbeth and Duncan’s death, and is most culpable of this due to the nature of ambition and power; furthermore, she
In the play Macbeth there was a lot of stuff that went on that could keep the reader interested. One of these things are all of the murders in the play. With all these murders happening, there has to be someone to blame. In the play Lady Macbeth is to blame for the murders because she called evil upon herself, influenced Macbeth to be a murder, and she wanted power.
Although critics argue that Lady Macbeth was a ruthless character from the start, Shakespeare chooses to have her display actions over time that can be characterized by modern medicine as displaying a mental illness. Right from the start, Lady Macbeth displays a lack of humanity due to her burning passion and ambition to become queen. Through dramatic irony, readers are able to see through her amicability towards King Duncan, characterized by letting him into her own home with open arms, and ultimately, not displaying her true intentions. This passion to gain more power only becomes stronger and stronger over time as she persuades Macbeth to commit murder, even going as far as questioning his “lack of courage” (Jamieson). Once there is an
with causes her death. Macbeth was respected and loyal to the king but the witches prophecies turned Macbeth evil but he still felt sorry of killing Macbeth. When lady Macbeth attack his manhood she convinced him to kill king Duncan. The killing of king Duncan causes him pain with fear and guilt wich push him to do more evil crimes.
In the play of Macbeth, there are some characters that could be responsible for Duncan’s death. I personally think Lady Macbeth is the cause of Duncan's murder. She is the most ambitious to kill the king in the beginning of the play, pressuring Macbeth. Lady Macbeth was persuasive of driving Macbeth to commit the murder. She manipulates him to go through with the murder even though he was very doubtful about it.
She could just be a very evil person who only wants to murder and manipulate people. However, Lady Macbeth reveals evidence that this is not the case about her. Lady Macbeth begins to sleepwalk and speak about the murders she has been a part of. “Attack, I am afraid, they have awoke. And tis not done.”
As soon as she heard Macbeth’s prophecy, she was willing to do anything to get him into the position of king. She was even willing to aid in the murder of innocent people who stood in the way of Macbeth’s ascension to the crown like, King Duncan. Her greed led to Macbeth’s downfall. When Macbeth stated that he was questioning his intentions to kill the king, she pushed him and assisted in the plotting. “We will proceed no further in this business. /
Elisama solis Mr Kennard 1A Lady Macbeth Sometimes we have to make some decisions to get what we want even though this decision makes you the evilest person in the world, on the play Macbeth from shakespeare we get to know two of the characters that are evil on their own way, as we go more into Macbeth we discover who is the more evil on the play. Lady Macbeth is more evil because she was the one that manipulates all the actions that Macbeth did, murder, betrayal , just to get him to be the king of Scotland, instead of telling him to do the right thing.
