The most successful progressive president was Theodore Roosevelt since he really utilized the power of the federal government; he was able to improve health conditions for the AMerican public; on top of that he was able to improve the environmental conditions for AMerica. Roosevelt was able to use his power as president and head of the federal government by organizing peaceful negotiations with coal miners and their supervisors in the coal strike of 1902. In the coal strike of 1902, the miners went on protest demanding a 20% raise and a nine hour work day.
