Martin Van Buren sent an army to force the Cherokee out of their homes and lead them on the Trail of Tears. On this journey about 2,000 Native Americans died of starvation and other causes, and another 2,000 died in camps waiting for relocation. The last reason for why Andrew Jackson is a bad president is that he wanted to get rid of the National Bank. Jackson hated the Bank because he thought is was too powerful and only helped the rich. He decided it would be a good idea to give federal money in the National Bank to the states which greatly weakened the Bank. Then these banks made lots of paper money and they couldn’t redeem it all in gold and silver. Once banks lost all of their gold and silver, they would fail. This later caused great
The trail of tears led to many native american deaths. While Andrew Jackson wasn’t in office while the Trail of Tears was happening, what he did when he was in office was the reason for it happening. Native americans were removed from the land they lived on. They were escorted to different land in the west.
Although, now that we can comprehend what happened back then, we can tell that he was a terrible person and president. In 1838 and 1839 the Trail of tears was a horrible journey where the Cherokee were forced to move to Oklahoma at the start of the winter. Jackson was not president at this time, but his removal policies still forced the Cherokee to give up it’s land and forced to move. The Trail of Tears was given it’s name by the Cherokee because of the devastation that happened to the people.
He wanted Americans to invest in a federal bank that could be used to pay foreign and local debts. In order to entice investors, he offered an annual four percent interest rate. This would allow investors to get rich on paper, but it also relied on the fact that everyone would not remove their money simultaneously. The introduction of this banking technique into America made such a huge impact, that it is still relevant today.
President Andrew Jackson was not a good leader. I say this because he was unfair. President Jackson Signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830. The Indian Removal act was started because people in Georgia wanted to expand their land to the South so they could plant more crops. By doing this the Indians were forced to move out of there land.
Andrew Jackson Throughout history our great nation has been blessed with a copious amount of presidents who have left great legacies that are still renowned. While some presidents have made policies that were detrimental for our nation at the time, Andrew Jackson’s policies were detrimental then and continue to be a source of outrage in our nation today. While Andrew Jackson believed he was making great strives for the nation he displacing an entire population of people from their rightful lands, and is the creator of the corrupt policy known as the spoils system. No one president has caused more damage to his fellow Americans than Andrew Jackson himself, and because of this, he deserves to be impeached and removed from office.
Andrew Jackson was seen as an ineffective president during the early 1800s because of the Trail of Tears (1838-1839), the Nullification Crisis (1832) and The veto of the National Bank (1833). The Trail of Tears of 1838 was an unnecessary massacre of the Native American people, because of Jackson's inability to control his troops. The American nation could have benefited from the working with Cherokee Natives, and lived in peace with each other. The goal of the Indian Removal Act was to move Cherokee natives to the west of the Mississippi.
Whether it was hard or not to see, pain was felt during those difficult years of Andrew Jackson’s presidency. Multiple people played a part of why certain things may have happened, especially involving the pain of others. Although, there also were saviours who fought for justice. We as a class deeply went and searched back into history for multiple accounts and explanations of what happened in the years of Andrew Jackson’s presidency. What was the problem exactly?
Andrew Jackson was a wild, energetic president that had the will and stability to make the United States a stronger, and more unified nation. A good democracy, in general, requires equal rights, an educated and strong leader, peace, stability, checks and balances, voting rights, and power in the hands of the people. Having a good and strong democracy also requires leadership of the people, and for them to stand up for their rights. In Andrew Jackson’s presidency, he is known for always striving for what he wants, even if the people of the United States didn’t agree with him.
March 4, of 1829 was the day Andrew Jackson was inaugurated as president of the United States. People had high expectations for Jackson to meet throughout his presidency. Did Jackson do a good job of changing the type of people who participated in the country 's economy and politics? His presidency certainly increased equality throughout social classes. Jackson gained himself and his years as president the title of "the era of the common man" due to his efforts at making politics and the economy more accessible to white men with fewer opportunities.
Andrew Jackson was a tough man. He even went by the name of ‘Old Hickory’. Andrew Jackson was a terrible president, but also a good president. There are many reasons why Andrew Jackson was a bad president. These are only the few reasons that we all already know or they are major events stated in US history.
Jackson ignored the Supreme Court. He continued forcing indians out the west. This journey is known as the Trail of Tears. One-fourth of indians died from this journey. Just because Jackson was put on the $20 bill doesn’t mean he did not do bad things.
In my opinion, Andrew Jackson was a good president because he was one of the most successful and interesting presidents. The Common Man always held special place in America, but with Jackson, he rose to the top of the American political power system. In the campaign of 1828, Jackson, know as “Old Hickory,” triumphed over the aristocratic, reclusive and unpopular incumbent President John Quincy Adams. Andrew Jackson was also the only President of the United States to pay off the national debt on January 8, 1835. Jackson’s strong personality and controversial way incited the development of an opposition party, the Whigs.
Andrew Jackson Andrew Jackson is the worst President ever! Well maybe not the worst of them all, but he did not do much since he had two terms .He screwed up the bank, he treated the Indians terribly and he came up with a spoil system. Jackson does not belong in the Presidents Hall of Fame. For his WHOLE time as President he only made one policy and that was the Indian removal act. Not much for two full terms.
In 1830, the Indian Removal Act was signed, forcing the Indians to move west of the Mississippi River. 4,000 of the 15,000 Cherokees died along the trail of tears, meaning over 25% of the Cherokees died. Although they did not want to leave their land, they had to because of President Jackson. The Indians should not have been forced off their land. President Jackson did not treat the Indians fairly, the land belonged to the Indians, and the Indians rights were being violated.
Andrew Jackson disobeyed a direct order from the Supreme Court, which it means he was above the law. I really wonder how Americans tolerated him, at that time, he was cruel to the Indian common man. Because of him, the Native Americans have the worst end of the Trail of Tears. They are the ones who are forced out of their traditional homes and sent away on a journey of pain and death. Those who had fallen ill, most of the time died, and those who had the will to move on were able to make it to the end and start new lives.
