Welcome to Stately Knowledge!
Facts about the United States

These web pages will help you find out the basic facts of any state in the Union, including Washington, D.C. Need to know the capital of Alabama? Want to know which hockey teams are in California? How about the size of Montana? All that information is here — and more!

Pick A State:

The above map is intended to make it easy to navigate the IPL's Stately Knowledge website.
To do that, we could not accurately depict the size and location of some states.
Alaska is larger than how we depict it above. Alaska is more than twice the size of Texas!
Alaska is also much further north and west than how we depict it above.
Hawaii is further south and much further west than how we depict it above.

Can't see the map above? Try our state link list below or get the Flash plugin for your browser.

Internet Explorer users may have to double-click the map
(once to activate it and once to select a state).

Want to zoom in on the map above? Hover your mouse pointer over where you want to zoom in. Press the right-click button on your mouse. (Mac users with a single-button mouse should press "Control" or "Ctrl" key and click the mouse button.) Then select from the new menu that appears the "Zoom In" option.

If you're interested in state rankings — for example, you want to know the third largest state — check out the Stately Knowledge Charts below.
