Carol Lee Sanchez was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and raised in the village of Pagute. Sanchez received her B.A. in Arts Administration from San Francisco State University in 1978. She has been involved with American Indian Women Painters, Third World Women in the Arts, National Women’s Studies Association at San Francisco State University and is Affirmative Action Committee chair for theCalifornia Association ofEnglish. She is also a painter.
