East Point Light
“Thompson Beach, New Jersey”
Built: 1849
Decommissioned: 1941
“This light, formerly known as the Maurice River Light, sits on the shore of the Delaware Bay near the Maurice River. It is the most remote land-based light in New Jersey. Decommissioned in 1941, it was relit in 1980 and remains an active light today. It is currently undergoing extensive renovation, so it is not very picturesque. A close look reveals that a porch with roof has been added to the front door.”
