Skillagalee Island Light
“Ile Aux Galets, Michigan”
Built: 1888
Automated: 1969
“A fog light and keeper’s dwelling once shared this narrow strip of land in Lake Michigan, but now only the octogonal light structure remains. The constant erosion of the island made quick work of the first two lights here at the ‘Island of Pebbles,’ but this third structure has now stood for over 100 years. (Photo 1988, Trip #4)”
