Turnberry Light
“Turnberry, Scotland, U.K.”
Built: 1873
Automated: 1986
“This 80 foot tall, white conical tower is located on the southwest coast of Scotland at the entrance to the Firth of Clyde from the North Channel. Its light is 95 feet above sea level and has a range of 24 nautical miles. It is situated close to the 17th hole of a golf coarse in what was once the moat of Turnberry Castle. Designed by David and Thomas Stevenson, it is still an active aid to navigation.”
