Durango Mendoza (Muscogee Creek/Mexican) was born June 23, 1945 in Claremore, OK. He is a sculptor/photographer, storyteller, poet, and author of 4 short stories which have been included in several anthologies. He is a graduate of University of Missouri at Columbia, attended the Art Institute of Chicago, and holds a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary arts Education from Columbia College in Chicago. Durango lives with his family in Urbana, IL, where he works as an administrator with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. He is involved with the American Indian Council of Illinois, the University of Illinois Native American Student Organization, the IDCFS Native American Advisory Council, and ATLATL.
