All the Pretty Horses

All the Pretty Horses is a novel by American author Cormac McCarthy, first published in 1992. It tells the story of John Grady Cole, a young man who leaves his Texas ranch in search of adventure in Mexico. Along with two companions, he embarks on an epic journey through rugged terrain and encounters many challenges along the way. The book is often considered to be part of McCarthy's Border Trilogy and was made into a movie starring Matt Damon in 2000.

The novel has been praised for its vivid descriptions of landscapes and characters as well as its powerful exploration of themes such as loyalty, courage, love, and loss. Critics have also noted how McCarthy uses sparse language to great effect, conveying emotion without relying heavily on dialogue or exposition. In 1993, it won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, cementing its status among some of America's greatest literary works from this period.
