Nowadays, everyone knows that the English language is very important for many fields. Especially, in the medical, most of the medical knowledge often uses the English language. Thus, for the second year of the medical program in SWU, medical students need to learn the MDG 202 subject to practice speaking and presentation skills. In the course, it has been focused on developing two these skills, so my three friends and I practice together and develop presentation skills, which I will tell the reflection and feedback from selecting the topic after the presentation. First of all, I chose the closest topic to the lifestyle of medical students who had to read many books and more not enough to rest, so the source of the topic was "Snoring to Death".
For this week I have been using Zotero to organize and look up useful academic journals to use for my three new citations. Combined with Zotero, I have also been using Ebsco to help find some interesting topics related to the setting that I wanted to focus my points on. Zotero’s feature of allowing me to save the PDF and bookmarking useful articles was really convenient and saved me a lot of time. Zotero’s feature of creating bibliographies also saved me quite some time, as it allowed me to go straight to the annotations for my readings. Everything went smoothly and efficiently with the combination of Ebsco and Zotero together.
Upon discovering the advertising industry through the American Advertising Federation Medgar Evers College Chapter, where I served as the Treasurer and Strategic Planner, I fortunately landed my first internship with the Omnicom Medgar Evers College Associates program where I was placed at DDB Worldwide as an account management on the State Farm account. Landing such an opportunity has reinforced my belief that advertising is an arena where I can challenge myself through critical thinking, creativity and innovation. Thus, I went on to applying to the 4A’s Multicultural Advertising Internship Program and was placed at Grey Group New York, providing account management support to the Hasbro Boys team. These two internships have given me an excellent opportunity to apply and enhance my prior academic and industry experience while learning from fellow interns as I establish a solid
I was most engaged in this course when I was doing the research for this paper. Filtering through all the research and figuring out what is valuable information was the most exciting part for me. Additionally, finding information and connecting it to a suspect is the most satisfying part of my job. Writing the actual research paper has been the second most engaging thing during this course. It is difficult for me because I know I am not a great writer, but there are improvements in my writing since starting college.
I’ve spent several summers at the Brickner Microbiology Lab at Northwestern University. I first became involved with the lab the summer after my sophomore year of highschool. I worked as a paid lab technician. I preformed custodial duties and learned how to operate and maintain pieces of lab equipment. During this time I sat in on “Journal Club” paper review sessions and learned about the research projects running at the lab.
As I reflect on the first half of the semester in CTCH 821, I can’t help but find myself seeing things around me with my newfound appreciation for the historical perspective. Data is so much more than numbers. Data not only captures the condition of a specific time, place, and population, but it serves as a historical document that can be used hundreds of years from now. Now, when I hear about any current issue in higher education, I don’t automatically assume that it’s a new issue that policymakers and researchers are scrambling to address. More likely than not, the issue is one that has roots in the history of higher education.
This tends to make everything you say somewhat a question or hard to understand. If the audience doesn’t understand I think this is a valuable component of public speaking because: If the audience doesn’t understand what you’re saying completely, you’re full idea or intention might not be conveyed Goal #2: Remain still while speaking but still gesture This is a goal for me because: I believe it’s hard to work on because it’s mostly natural but takes some effort if trying to in everyday conversation I think this is a valuable component of public speaking because: It keep people focused on you and always moving to constantly have them alert. Goal #3: Speaking out towards the audience
Everyone needs to struggle in order to preform better. Writing has always been a strength of mine, but I found it a challenge to move from the high school, six-paragraph essay format that I had grown accustomed to. Throught the course of this semester, I was able to acquire many different skills in ENG 1101 that have helped me transition into more complex writing. These include various writing techniques, MLA formatting, writing for purpose, convincing my arguments and finding and properly using sources. The portfolio I have submitted is comprised of three works of writing that I completed for ENG 1101 over the last three months.
I learned a lot of new information from the guest speakers last week. I don’t think that I could see myself doing something like what Adrienne Gavula with ACLU does. I feel that I would get too passionate about a topic and get discouraged if things stayed the same for a long period of time. After hearing Adrienne talk I know that they usually have to wait long period of time before anything happens. I would feel that I would want some type of encouragement in order to keep working as hard as I would be.

Communication Modulate you voice - Modulating your voice is when you change the pitch of your voice up and down, by doing this you keep the audience’s attention rather than having one pitch as the audience are likely to lose interest. You may do this when teaching for a long period of time if your voice doesn’t vary the pupils are more likely to get bored and distracted, however, if you change the pitch of your appropriately you keep the pupils listening to you for longer meaning they are able to take in more information too. Raising your voice - You raise your voice mostly so that you can be heard however it is very effective as you can show your emotion towards things, like telling someone off for doing something wrong, by raising your voice

I found the weekly planner assignment to be enlightening because it showed my weekly progression for the goals I set at the beginning of the week and the roles that I embrace in a given week. This assignment has helped me with what I can do better to align my goals with my actions. These goals come from the roles that define me, so by increasing my chances of achieving my goals, I am also developing my various roles. Completing a weekly planner for two weeks has provided me an opportunity to be critical of how I spend my time and change it to be more complementary to my key roles. The first week of the assignment , I spent a lot of time practicing, helping teammates with their schoolwork, and studying for the LSAT.
First day of first grade, the teacher hands out pieces of paper and tells us to write the most creative story we can think of.
