1. Ten Facts Parents Should Know About Reading. I liked this brochure a lot because it remarks the importance that reading has in the life of a child across his path in school. This brochure has an interesting statistic about literacy compared with the income level, and it reveals that “children who read the most, read the best” despite the income level they have (Trelease, J., 2009, p. 2). The brochure also has practical suggestions to improve literacy in children, for example, to read aloud from infancy because listening comprehension develops earlier than reading comprehension, and to use closed-captioning on the TV as a way to teach children to read.
