Unlike the continuous conforming traits of Bianca in the play, her modernised character is depicted as strong and multifaceted which defies gender expectations. In Act 1, scene 1, Bianca states ‘Sister, content you with my discontent. Sir, to your pleasure humbly I subscribe.’ The quote juxtaposes the responses of Bianca and Katherina, encapsulating Bianca’s role as the desirable sister for her obedient and submissive demeanour. Shakespeare portrays Bianca as the ‘ideal woman’, despite her internalised sexist tendencies, highlighting the strict expectations of the Elizabethan era. In the ‘prom scene,’ a mid-shot is used to showcase an unknown
