Edward or Jacob? In Twilight Bella is put in a situation where she has an internal conflict because she has to use her heart and choose either Edward or Jacob in order to find her happily ever after. The most important literary element is inter conflict because emotions affect your actions,and past problems affect your decision. In 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose the jurors show internal conflict when their emotions affect their actions. Juror 8 shows internal conflict when he asks the jurors who they think a killer is. “Tell me what the facial characteristics if a killer are.” When Juror 8 says “tell me” it shows that he is angry and no one at the moment can prove him wrong. When juror three says “he hit me”,this is important because it shows juror thinks that kids who don’t listen to their parents are either from a slum neighborhood or are slum kids.He also compares his son to the boy without realizing it and judges the boy without even knowing him formally. This shows his internal conflict of anger with his son. Juror 5 also has past experiences that affect his decision making. “I used to play in a backyard filled with garbage.Maybe it still smells on me.”-Juror 5 page 21.When Juror 5 says “smells on me”, it is important because it shows that Juror 5 can relate to the boy and his perspective for voting is more fact-based and non-judgemental.He doesn’t just say the boy is not-guilty because he has a similar-past, but but because he goes over evidence and doesn’t dwell on the fact the boy is from a poor neighborhood.
