The title of the painting is 125th Anniversary Mural, created by artist Steve Penley using paint on canvas. Steve Penley was born into a talented family, as he was born into a family of musicians. Steve Penley was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee but to Georgia. Penley studied art at The School of Visual Arts in New York and at the University of Georgia. Penley’s talent was recognized by an attorney and art enthusiast, who helped Penley connect with clients and grow his business. Penley is known and loved for his art style, in which he uses bold brush strokes, vivid colors and often creates historical icon paintings. In this painting, there is no specific balance illustrated. Contrast is used in this painting because Steve Penley used small and large images; for instance, the large Coca-Cola bottle and the smaller images, such as the architectural buildings and other Coca-Cola products. There is no movement, rhythm or pattern illustrated in this painting. There is unity in this painting because the painting is visually pleasing and everything appears as if it fits and is suppose to be there. The colors Penley uses work good together because although he uses warm and cool colors, he uses them in a way, that makes the colors pop and stand out. However, Steve Penley has a different view on Coca-Cola and why he paints similar images. As mentioned in the description for the painting, Penley states, “A Coke bottle is a common bond we all share, I manipulate it with my colors and brushstrokes to help the public see it in a new way. I want people to take away a feeling of comfort, optimism and hope. Because to me, Coke is all of those things”. Personally, I feel that the mood and feeling of this artwork is fun, happy and worldly.
