The 15 Best scenes in Takashi Miike Films

Taking advantage of the “V-Cinema” (straight-to-video films) boom of the 90s, Miike managed to crack himself into the industry, eventually producing his first theatrically distributed film in 1995, titled “Shinjuku Triad Society”. Shun Takahata enters his classroom only to find a Daruma Doll atop the teacher's desk (As the Gods Will, 2014)
The Doll has forced the students to play a deadly edition of “Red light, green light, 1-2-3,” making the ones that lose explode in a bloodbath that has filled the place with red marbles. As the scene progresses, he, and the remaining students realize that this is a trial of sorts, although an utterly unfair one, as Takahata soon discovers.
The scene is a distinct sample of the grotesque and slapstick elements that comprise the film's aesthetics. The fact that a toy (Daruma Doll) and a children's game (Red light, green light, 1-2-3) are used to create bloodbaths, and the violence they emit showcase the script's contradictory nature, in a tactic that Miike must have loved.
Miike retains the agony throughout the duration of the scene, as the students try desperately to understand what is happening inside their classroom, and why they have to watch their classmates explode.
13. The cockfight (City of Lost Souls, 2000)
In an arena specifically made for this purpose, two peculiar characters place their cocks to fight against each
