“You can vote. You are an adult. You can smoke. You can drive. You can live on your own. You can join the military. But there is one thing you can’t do at 18...legally buy alcohol! In the US the law is that you have to be 21 to drink any type of alcohol.” “But of the 190 countries 61% have a drinking age of 18 or 19. And most have less recorded alcohol related deaths than the US.” “This is because anyone under 21 sees alcohol as a “forbidden fruit.” The curiosity leads to more people under the age of 21 drinking anyway.
