In fact, the average price of a car in the early 1900s was around $850 - a crazy amount of money for most people at the time. However, all of that changed thanks to the Assembly Line, which revolutionized the way cars were manufactured. The Assembly Line made it possible for cars to be produced more quickly and efficiently, which brought down the cost of production dramatically. When Henry Ford invented the Assembly Line and hired about 50k people it sped up the time to build a Model T. It even lowered the price of the Model T to $300. Henry Ford paid each person $5 if they worked 8 hours.
The automobile has played a very concise role in human history. It has helped us with transportation over larger distances and allows people to live farther away and commute to work instead of living close by. It didn’t inherently start in the United States, but it most definitely did take off the fastest in the United States. Cars have played a huge role particularly in american history, and it also impacted how we do automation as well as improving everyone’s lives. It majorly impacted average Americans through the development of roads, changed structures of buildings, and establishment of new businesses. As automobiles became popular throughout the country, roads had to be built.
Moving into the 20th century Henry Ford from Detroit became an iconic individual that represented the auto industry. Due to the creation of the automobile it was Ford that was recognized as changing the view of American. 1920s Automobiles Think of the automobiles around today, luxury cars with seat heaters, touch screen radios, sunroofs, and more, now imagine not having all the luxury and taking it all the way back to the very vehicle. 1920’s automobiles began with the Ford Model T, production of 10 iconic cars, and the legends of the “Big Three” automotive companies. The Model T was a four-cylinder, twenty-horsepower automobile with a two-speed planetary transmission. The Model T had a detachable cylinder head therefore making it easy to repair and a high frame in order to easily go over bumps in rural roads. This vehicle was made from vanadium steel making it a lighter and tougher car and with new ways of casting parts the price was easy to keep down.

The majority of these cars were produced by the Ford Motor Company, led by Henry Ford, who designed a different model each year to satisfy the insatiable crowd. Many of the automotive innovations that we think of as being modern—like electric powered cars, four wheel drive, front wheel drive, hybrid fuel and electric cars—were introduced during the 1920s. Although the Model T wasn’t the first car made, it was the most affordable. The symbol of the automobile, which was thought to be only of the wealthy, has now turned into an item in almost every household in America. However, the Model T wasn’t the first generation. Ford made a handful of cars that would eventually make up the Model T. Ford took something from every model before and blended it beautifully to make the Model T.
Although Henry Ford began the Ford Motor Company in 1903, it was not until 1908 that his business began to grow and become successful. In 1908 Ford first released the Model T automobile at a price of $825.00. He was able to offer the vehicle at such a low price because in the process of producing the Model T he also developed and perfected the moving assembly line. This reduced the assembly time by over fifty percent, which in turn reduced the price of the automobile. The Ford Motor Company has continued to grow and after over a century of being in business it is now worth around $199 billion.
