1920 U.S.A Eugenics Eugenics: (Noun/Verb): The act of attempting the perfection of genes within a pre-existing population similar to that of selective breeding within a select species of mammals. During the Roaring Twenties of the United States a process of artificial selection arose known as the process of Eugenics. Eugenics is as stated, a process of elimination of the “Lesser” individuals to preserve traits that are thought highly of. During the latter 19th Century and the early 20th Century, eugenics was considered a favored method of preserving society, therefore only showcasing the preferred traits within society. He believed that power was established though the display of favored traits within a precise genetic makeup thus creating a state of mind proclaiming that humanity should be able to control its evolutional patterns. Many intellectual prodigies claimed this was a sane explanation of “genealogical perfection”. As grim as this is true, many African American scholars claimed this to be unequaled in removing their “Moral inequity”. (This was during an era when racism was relative.) Before the warring storm hit the U.S.A, during the 1910’s the American Breeder’s Association was created within the U.S.A under the command of Charles B. Davenport. This association’s primary function was to; “Bring light to society about the need of superior traits and blood and express the horrors that undesired traits transference.” Eventually the Immigration Restriction League was formed and associated openly with the ideals of eugenics.
