The United States experienced great changes of immigration from the 1880s to 1920. More immigrants were coming into America during this period. There were many reasons motivating immigrants to journey to America. There were different reasons that led immigrants to come into the United States. For example some came running away from religious persecution, other for oppression, and economic difficulties. These were the three main factors motivating immigrants to come into to the “land of opportunity.” As it is exemplified in the movie, “El Norte”, after the army destroys a Guatemalan family and their village, a brother and sister, decide they must travel to "El Norte" (the USA).
