Crime and Gangs climbed drastically in the 1930’s. The law depended on prohibition to reduce the amount of alcohol consumed. The great depression is what caused crime rate to increase so rapidly.There was many cities that were high in crime, but Chicago and Harlem New York were the main ones. In the 1930’s Gangs were created to protect each other. John Dillinger, Al Capone, Griselda Blanco, and Rosetta Cutolo were some of the well known gang members. The Mob and the Mafia were two of the well known, well organized criminal groups. Violence in the 1930’s was so desperate, that the outlaws could have there way whenever they wanted. John Dillinger was one of the well known bank robbers. 1924 he broke out of jail, and escaped to Chicago with his gang. They put together one of the best bank robbery groups throughout the country! As Dillinger's’ crime spread throughout the country him and his crew got arrested. In 1934 dillinger got killed by the FBI agents outside of a movie theater. Al Capone was another big well known guy. He was known for boot leg, Prohibition, gambling and being apart of the mobsters gang. 1929 Al Capone and his gunmen were blamed for gunning down seven men on valentines day. By 1931, he was found guilty for an tax evasion, and spent eight years in prison. When he was released, he tired because her was sick. Al Capone ended up dying from heart failure in 1947. A women named Griselda Blanco was ended up being responsible for plenty of murders over trading cocaine. Blanco dealt cocaine and was very violent, She ended up being documented in a documentary called “Cocaine Cowboys”. In 1994, Griselda was sent to prison, and ended up being transferred to Miami for three murder cases. Blanco was found guilty, and only served ten years in prison. Once she got out of prison she went to her hometown and was killed by two gunmen on motorcycles. Lastly, Rosetta Cutolo became an Italian mafia leader, once her brother got arrested.
