A fashion revolution occurred in the 1970s, considering that it was very similar to 1969, just more flamboyant. In ‘79, deep dark grays and color combinations like red and black were popular. Nowadays, dark red and purple colors are very popular for the fall season. Earth tones were also in any combination that you can imagine. Fashion is constantly changing nowadays. In the 1970s, fashion affected the trends immensely and the fashion that we have now reflects what was popular back in the day.
Back in 1973, on January 27th, the United States and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam signed the Paris Peace Accords, ending American military involvement in the Vietnam War. American President Richard M. Nixon hoped that South Vietnam’s President Nguyen Van Thieu was strong enough to stand up to the Communist challenge. In December, 1974, the North Vietnamese Army began a major new attack on the South, in Phuoc Long Province. By January 7, 1975, Communists had seized the capital of province Phuoc Binh. In February of 1975, Father Tran Huu Thanh, who led the Popular Anti-corruption Movement, had called on the people of South Vietnam to remove Thieu from power. By April, other South Vietnamese politicians had joined in opposing the Thieu government. Even the Senate called for his resignation. After Xuan Loc fell on April 21, Thieu had to step down from the presidency. Shortly after noon on April 30, the first Communist troops entered Saigon.
