Existentialism is prevalent throughout all realms of reality today. This theory clashes and conjoins with many day-to-day actions, thoughts, and literature. The majority of the public rarely realize that they are in fact using existentialism to carry out their actions, specifically during decision making. Certain philosophies revolving around decision making include: Anxiety/Authenticity, Free Will, Death, and Absurdity, just to name a few. Three pieces of literature that include existentialism throughout it's core are The Stranger, Waiting for Godot, and 1984. These three books expand upon various topics across existentialism that interconnect with each other and bounce off theories of Simone de Beauvoir, a feminist philosopher. The book follows the main character, Winston, as he commences his journey throughout London, Oceania. Winston is a member of the Outer party and works in the ministry of truth, a record department in charge of rewriting and altering history events. The "leader" in charge is Big Brother, who is a representation of authority in this world. Soon enough, Winston begins to question the government and acts out in rebellion by writing in his journal. Freedom of expression and speech are inhibited in this world and are punishable by the Thought Police. Any form of expression can be seen as rebellious and can easily be caught through the easy access to advanced technology placed in homes. Every single home is equipped with a T.V that spies on residents and many children rat out close family and friends due to their moldable minds. Consequently, Winston must keep secret his rebellious thoughts. He later ends up embarking on a journey with a colleague named Julia, who he continues to have a sexual relationship
