No one ever brings up how much control the Government has over you or how much our freedoms are slipping away right in front of us. We are so brainwashed by the Government like in 1984 when Orwell stated how “He had imagined her a fool like all the rest of them, her head stuffed with lies” the Government fills our heads with false information and we believe it. We think they’re something or someone we can trust/rely on. Invasion of privacy is an intrusion of an individual’s privacy that is unwanted or unalarmed and that cannot be stopped. George Orwell wrote a staggering book implying invasion of privacy during his time and how it affected him and how it affects the future generations . For instance, George Orwell wrote, “Whichever 2 way you turned, the telescreen faced you ''. (Part 2, pg 138). The telescreen follows your every move, watches everything you do and can talk to you through the TV. They watch you through the telescreen even in your own house and have microphones set up everywhere to make sure you don't say anything that is against the inner party. This is still present in today’s society, as a result of this “Government security agencies like the NSA can also have access to your devices through in-built backdoors. This means that these security agencies can tune in to your phone calls, read your messages, capture pictures of you, stream videos of you, read your emails, steal your files ... at any moment they please” (theguardian.com, Edward Snowden). If you don’t comply with the government they will watch and control you. On the topic of Governmental control and invasion of privacy we wonder how it is still prominent in today's society. This essay concludes that our society still experiences the same global issues that Orwell experienced during his time. We are improving by all means but still are affected horribly by both invasion of privacy and government control. We are not only being watched through our phones but they are making laws and taking our freedoms slowly day by day. If we keep going down this path it could lead to protests and destruction. Tying back to how this connects to today’s society Orwell informs us how “You might dodge successfully for a while, even for years, but sooner or later they were bound to get you” (Part 1, pg 24). He informs us how you can run all you want from the government but they will find you and you will regret disobeying them. By having the government watching your every move to be watched through your own cellular device, it really shows how much “privacy” we have in this world. You
