Modern Day Abuse During the year of 1998, in September many child abuse cases were reported. Sad part is it’s only gotten worse from there. Within the last decade, it's made quite the statement. As of January 2016, child abuse rates and cases have continued to increase. From 1998 to 2016 child abuse cases have only gotten more dangerous and more common. Similarities within the cases between 1998 and 2016 vary from children age groups, to the gender of the child being abused and the length of the abuse. For example, Suzy Frisch, writes an article on September 11, 1998 on the abuse of a girl and her brothers who were kept in a cage by their parents. The girl having had the worst punishment for whatever reason, ended with psychological damages. Diagnosed by many psychiatrist with defiant disorder, lead her to have temper tantrums, argue with adults, she would even at night take food from the Rogers fridge at night and hide it. Further elaborating, she was the most piete compared to her other siblings, she was however, also the most hostile and violent, making them afraid of her. Many of the cases in 1998 all resulted in the children, many under 13, resulted in them having psychological issues mainly defiant disorders. As mentioned earlier gender was also, played a role, as for many young females (girls), were abused way more then boys were. The reason for this is unknown and till this day remains unknown. In addition, many parents remained silent if it involved only one parent. For instance, if the dad was responsible for the abuse, most of the time the second parent remained silent about the situation. Thus, making little of many cases of abuse
