The 2000s was a very important decade for fashion in the United States. The way fashion was promoted and advertised into people’s lives would be changed. These changes would be brought thanks to the introduction of today’s big name social media brands, the evolution of the smartphone, and the advancement of computers. Fashion would have many more means of growing thanks to these social networks. That is where the introduction of smartphones will play it’s part along with social media to revolutionize fashion forever.

Fashion in the 2000s was referred to as the “mash-up” decade. This was because there was no particular style for the majority of the 2000s. Designers would remix trends from the 90s, then came the not-so modern look, where designers would focus on the more Vintage and Retro looks, ranging from the 60s to the 80s which became very popular. During these years women’s fashion directed away from unisex styles of the 90s and it adopted a more feminine look which was pulled off with miniskrits, tank tops, jackets, ripped jeans, and flip-flops. On the Men’s side fashion more into the Sporty look. Guys would wear baseball caps, trainers, polo shirts, and a very common trend was boot cut jeans. Getting to the mid 2000s tighter clothes was becoming poplular in womens fashion with them wearing skinny jeans, leggings, knee high boots wore with Vintage tops. Mens fashion was impulsed by popular pop groups radiating the Retro style which would be accompanied by military dress jackets, Converse shoes and slim fitting jeans. By the late 2000s women were dressing more formalistic wearing ballet flats, long dresses with belts, suited with leather and fur jackets. Men on the other side took a few steps back into the 50s and 60s look which included black leather jackets, motorcycle boots, cardigans, sweaters, V-necks, and still into the slim fitted pants with Ray-Ban glasses for a touch of edginess.
