The poem, Useless Boys,is one that portrays a feeling of indignation, rebellion and finally, understanding by two boys who grew up with bitter views of their fathers’ onerous jobs. The narrator believes that the only reason his father stays at his job is for the money. In his naivety the son does not realize that at times living selfishly is the way things have to be. Sometimes commitments are made in a self-sacrificial and cowardly manner. No matter how “wrecking” his father’s career, he stays in order to provide for his family.
Analysis of the Last Line In “The Roman Spring Of Mrs. Stone” In his first novella, “The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone”, the writer, Tennessee Williams, has portrayed the life of a woman who loses her beauty and goes through menopause and comes to the realization that her success as an actress had more to do with her beauty and single minded tenacity to be "The King on Top of the Mountain", rather than natural talent. She gives up on her career as an actress and goes into a form of exile by travelling to Europe with her husband, who unfortunately passes away two months later. She goes through an existentialist soul searching journey. She analyses and lives her life in a detached way and feels that she is mindlessly drifting on the ocean of life without any actual purpose.
In addition, this stanza does not end as a sentence which shows that the thought is not complete here. Moreover, each stanza after stanza seven does not end up as one sentence; some may have fragments or even multiple sentences. This illustrates that the speaker’s mind is running wild by desiring to recapture his sexual memories as well as his other memories with his significant other. I got attracted to this poem, because it reminded me when I was at the Regionals for a Cross-Country race and reflected how humans’ life can be fair or beautiful. The cluster “time, clock, finish” clarifies for a measurement that refers to a competitive race.
Written by Sandra Cisneros, “Love Poem For The Non-Believer” uses a number of different literary devices to compare vulnerability and sexual intimacy to religion. The first stanza of the poem includes a lot of kinesthetic and visual imagery as the speaker describes how she “[runs her] hand/along the flat of [her] thigh/curve of the hip/mango of the ass” (Cisneros) in memory of a lost love, thereby creating an intimate and sexually suggestive tone. The last two lines of the stanza also introduces a motif of vulnerability as the speaker reveals the ideas of self-doubt she holds in regards to her body, ideas that her lover attempts to address through their intimate actions. Life comes with many opportunities for mistakes, and, often, the resulting guilt is not easily avoidable. “Kevin’s Heart”, by J. Cole, effectively captures the ongoing battle between man and life’s temptations and demonstrates a lesson of how accepting and dealing with the resulting guilt can lead to growth. An example of these temptations is infidelity. Infidelity has been around for a vast amount of time, and it brings consequences that people might not know how to handle. From his use of repetition, certain word choices, and metaphors, J. Cole tells the story of a man who is faced with the consequences of infidelity.
Love and sex also coney intense human experiences in “To his coy Mistress”. Throughout the argumentative speech the speakers only desires a physical relationship with not emotional input unlike the mistress. In the first stanza the speakers decides the mistress with sweet words of devotion “Till the conversion of Jews” this hyperbolised quote is an intertextual reference to the Bible referring to the end of time. Conveying that the speaker would love his mistress till the end of time. Additionally, the speakers use a hyperbolised, alliteration “An age at least to every part” implying how much he loves her.

The women is looking out the window waiting for her man to come, although he may never show. The women is stripped naked because the man took her individuality from her. Her face is covered from the viewer seeing what she looks like and who she is because she doesn’t know who she is because she relies on the man.
Billions of people live in this world, each one taking part in countless relationships. These relationships form through the various interactions of everyday life. There are the relationships between friends, teachers and their students, and even the relationships between pets and their owners, all of which develop unique and amiable friendships over time. These relationships, however, often end and cannot withstand life’s hard ways, leaving only the strongest and deepest bond to survive the storms—the bond within the family. Simon J. Ortiz and Robert Hayden both depict this family bond differently in their poems.

I am not a father so I cannot express the love for a child. “My son the Man” is a short 16-line poem. In the poem, Sharon compares her son to Houdini and explains how he has grown up. Sharon expresses deeply about her son growing up and leaving her and it is hard for her to watch her little boy become a man. Erin Hanson: Reassurance in Flaws The name Erin Hanson is one many have not heard. The young poets ideas spread confidence, self love, and acceptance. Her young age allows her to connect with her audience in ways many her fellow poets can not. Many songs have many different meaning to many different people. Everyone interprets songs and poems differently. This particular song has a very distinctive meaning and it's important to me. The song I chose is “Love Triangle” by Raelynn. In the song “love Triangle” the song is being sung by a child's point of view the little girl in the song is longing for each of her patients while she is with the other.
