One of the biggest names in hip hop was killed in the 90s. Tupac was shot while in a BMW on the way to a nightclub, after a fight at the MGM Grand on September 7, 1996. The event is still controversial to this day. There are many different views of Tupac Shakur’s shooting; most of the views come from fan’s, friend’s, or federal agents or cop’s perspectives.
Tupac’s fans have many different theories and feelings toward Tupac’s death. Many of Tupac’s fans believe that he is still alive, and even some believe that he is specifically in Cuba. Some fans even believe he wrote a song with a music video that depicted Tupac being shot in a similar situation to his actual death (“5 Enduring Conspiracy Theories about Tupac.”). Suge Knight believed that the drive-by shooting that night was actually targeting him that night, instead of Tupac (Chen). He claims the hit was likely organized by his ex-wife, Sharitha Knight, who used to work for Death Row Records (Chen). His ex-wife has since denied the accusations by Knight (Chen). Suge Knight says he remembers talking to Tupac in the hospital and him doing good (Reed). This conflicts with police reports that he was in a coma until his death. Suge Knight also mentioned how he doesn’t understand how someone could go from doing well, to do so poorly (Reed). Suge Knight also mentioned in an interview when asked whether he thought Tupac was alive or not, “with Pac you never know” (Reed). These comments made by Suge Knight have given fuel to the theory that Tupac is alive and hiding in Cuba. Snoop Dogg was a close friend to Tupac throughout his career. When asked in an interview if he thought Tupac was alive, he responded by saying Tupac is resting in peace (Warner). Snoop Dogg could have meant multiple things by this, it really depends on perspective. Kim Kardashian claimed to have sighted Tupac in 2012 (Chen). This also added to the theory that Tupac is still alive. Kim Kardashian, however, has been known to say things just so she can get …show more content…
There is one retired officer who claims Tupac paid him to help him fake his death (Reuters). The officer’s name is David Myers. Myers claimed Tupac not only paid him, but paid most of the initial cops on the scene, along with people at the hospital (Reuters). Myers said he felt like what he did was wrong, so now he is coming out so that the public can know (Reuters). When this is added with Knights statement that Tupac was doing well at the hospital, however the official report saying he was in a coma, makes Tupac being alive possible. Most reports by cops or federal agents, however, say that Tupac is dead. LAPD detectives believe that Tupac was likely killed by a Crips gang member, more specifically Orlando Anderson (Runtagh). Tupac and some of his entourage attacked Orlando Anderson in the lobby of the MGM Grand; both had been there to watch a fight (Runtagh). This attack was likely because Orlando Anderson had tried to steal a chain from another member of Tupac’s entourage in a store earlier (Runtagh). There was tension even before the fight at the MGM Grand. Suge Knight, the manager of Death Row Records, was a known member of the Mob Piru gang in Los Angeles (Runtagh). Tupac was in jail over alleged sexual assault charges, and signed with Knight partly just to get out of jail (Runtagh). By doing this, Tupac became an immediate enemy of the Crips (the Crips were rivals with the Mob
