Hello, my name is Isabella Flores. As a recent college graduate, I am looking for employment at Crumpleyland Books. As given as my assignment, I would like to give my recommendations on which stories Crumpleyland Books should add to the 75th Anniversary Edition of The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury.

When reading “The Love Affair” this story would be one of my recommendations to add to the newest edition of The Martian Chronicles. The main protagonist of “The Love Affair” is Sio. Sio is the last Martian alive on Mars. Similar to the story in The Martian Chronicles named “And The Moon Be Still As Bright”, the plot centers around the disease or chicken pox as the Earthmen discover has wiped out the Martian population and the only soul survivor is Sio. As the story progresses Sio meets a beautiful woman that he falls in love with but wants to kill her because she is death; she is the reason why the Martian population is extinct. The theme Bradbury portrays is forgiveness. Using Sio as the main protagonist, Bradbury brilliantly describes Sio's difficult decision to kill the woman, but in the end, Sio forgave the woman for her responsibility in the Martian extinction.

Robert Prentiss and his family have moved from Earth to Mars. Carrie, his wife, is very unhappy on Mars, multiple times she packs her things and attempts to go back to Earth but only to stay with her family on Mars. To keep his wife on Mars, Robert surprises his wife by bringing her most valued belongings brought from Earth to Mars. One of these items included their front door with the strawberry window in it. Bradbury represents how people will go to extreme measures to persuade. Using Robert, Bradbury portrays how hard he is willing to work to make his wife happy and content so he can live on Mars and his wife can feel as if she was back at home on
