There are many traits that are needed to be applied when being a leader. Traits including confidence, courage, positivity, and many more are needed in order to be considered a good leader. A leader also needs to spread a positive message to people. They need to be someone who can be responsible and trusted by a large group of people. This generation and generations to come, learn from the previous leaders, as to not make their mistakes. Leaders need to have a good message in order to be considered a good leader. He helped by laying the foundation of our country, and by writing the Declaration of Independence (United States & Jefferson, 1952). He helped to create a society with rules and boundaries. Without his persistantance and introduction of new ideas, things would’ve played out differently. He took charge and wasn’t afraid to take some risks for a new, developing nation. Machiavelli states in “The Prince” that “No government should imagine that it can choose perfectly safe courses. It should expect to have to take very doubtful ones because in ordinary affairs one never seeks to avoid one trouble without running into another” (pg. 36).This proves that Jefferson made the right choice of taking action for our country. Someone has to make the choices for the country and he noticed that if he took charge, the outcome would be beneficial to the people.
