“It’s a time of darkness, sadness and horror. The fear is back again.” The book version of ‘A Bottle in the Gaza Sea’ is very different from the film version. The beginning is different, Tal is different and the ending is different. The beginning of the book and the beginning of the movie are very different. In the book the story begins with Tal being at home and a bomb going off in her neighborhood. She describes in detail the fear she experiences as her brother runs out with his first aid kit and her father follows. Then she runs up to her room and listens counting all the ambulances that go by. She can’t sleep so she goes to the kitchen, gets some vodka and earplugs then tries to sleep. In the movie the story begins with an empty beach. Then you see a army jeep drive along down to the waterline. You see a soldier get out of the jeep, throw a bottle into the ocean then leave. Then it shows the bottle floating along in the water. The book had a better beginning because you get a sense of the characters and the plot. The book has a clear beginning whereas the movie does not. The beginning of the movie left me confused and unsure. …show more content…
Tal being one of the main characters if not the main character is very important. The way Tal is portrayed in the book and in the movie are very different. She’s a completely different person. Someone like that is someone we picture as innocent and good. In the movie Tal is portrayed as broken, slutty, and bad . In the movie Tal smokes ciggarets, does drugs, has sex, goes to parties and drinks. I prefered Tal from the book. Because she seemed to suit the character and plot more. On a more personal level I could relate with the Tal from the book and not the Tal from the
