This quote is when John and Ford are talking alone about God and poetry. Ford says that God shows himself as and if he weren't there at all and that god made is image that way by himself. But John toldy disagrees and says that he Ford himself made it that way and it wasn't natural. And I agree with John one hundred percent because to have God you need pain or sorrow in your life and you need poetry or even just normal books
John emphasizes, “I felt pissed off, and this was pretty much all the time. I probably should be feeling happy to be alive, blessed to still be with my family, glad that I didn’t have brain damage, all of the above. Instead I was just angry” (page 187). Still, John couldn’t move past his consuming fury. He wanted revenge and justice so badly that he couldn’t be grateful for his luck.
Brave New World is full of many characters who will do everything they can to avoid facing the truth about the truly broken society that they live in. Where they are held captive and convinced that how they live is the only way to achieve happiness. In chapter 7 you meet a boy named John, Bernard and Lenina take him from the savage reservation back to the utopia. John chooses to use Shakespeare as his way to avoid facing his truth and his broken past. Shakespeare plays a big role throughout this book, representing first, the art and ideas that are rejected by the Brave New World in the interest of maintaining stability.

A trait that John acquires (curiosity) gives him the desire to travel on a forbidden expedition east and to cross the river and witness the “gods”, although he knows the consequences that he may face. In the story, it states “...three deer passed in the valley going east... I followed them, at a distance, waiting for what would happen. My heart was troubled about going east, yet I knew that I must go...”. This portrays curiosity getting the best of John.
John doesn’t find his belief in God overnight. “…But he is the reason I found God” (pg 1) In this quote, John is referring to Owen Meany as the reason he found God. His opinion of Owen changes and progresses throughout the book. When his friend dies, John doesn’t doubt religion like he did previously.
John said in his diary why was he going to kill Him and what people would. He Wrote that he wouldn't care if people honored him or nothing. He knew he was doing the right for his country. Even despite this John is still human, you see this when explained in Act I that, “ He is a sinner, a sinner not only against the moral fashion of the time, but against his own vision of decent conduct” (Miller 19). This explains that John has sinned in the past, however, he feels guilty about it as it didn’t follow his own morals. The regretful sin he committed was having an affair with a 17-year-old girl, Abigail Williams. Even despite this, John is a man of god. John is later prosecuted in Act II because he does not actively attend church, John didn’t attend church because of the action of Reverend Parris.
Although he doubts God in the beginning, he begins to question his doubt. In the following quotation, John is worrying about his future if he does not accept God. He begins to believe that God truly is the only way to escape the evil he was born in. ¨Only the hand of God could deliver him.
