Today we are using colors for many things, but back in the day it was used for a variety of things. The Greek philosophers came up with colors and introduce it. Colors were created from all sorts of things. One question several want to know is, how colors got their name? Known this answer will help a better understanding of why it is so many colors. It was one question many always wanted to know, which is how colors get their name? In the article, “History of Color” written by Catherine McNiff, she explains the background history of colors, who introduce it, and how they got their individual name. There are four different major people that played a part in contributing to colors. Greek philosophers Democritus and Aristotle and Roman writers Pliny the Elder and Vitruvius. It really helps in major art work that we like today: “The first pigments were invented by artists, the combination included soil, animal fat, burnt charcoal, and chalk. In the article, Sarah Gottesman goes into details about the history of color: “the history of color has been one of perpetual discovery, whether through exploration or scientific advancement.
