In the book ‘The One’ by Kiera Cass the book opens up with a rebel attack, two of the rebels talk to Maxon and America, America then identifies them as the people she saw in the woods in the previous book. The two rebels tell America and Maxon that they are August and Georgia, in the meeting they have with Maxon and America they share that they aswell want to end the caste system and they urge Maxon to choose America to be his wife. America then one night realizes her love for Maxon is stronger for Maxon then she has cared to admit to herself, later on America discovers Celeste who is upset at the fact the America is succeeding in the selection and Celeste is not. At the end of the book the theme love stuck out to me extremely. When America came back from her father's funeral, and Maxon came by to check on America, he came in and showed America the house that he bought her family and told her that he would be marrying her she was so happy, on page 269-270 it said “ ‘Maxon, some of those marks are on your back so they wouldn't be on mine, and I love you for them.’ He stopped breathing for a second. ‘What did you say?’ I smiled ‘I love you.’ ‘One more time, please? I just---’ I took his face in both of my hands. ‘Maxon Schreave, I love you, I love’ ‘And I love you, America Singer. With all that I am, I love you.” Another scene in the story was when the southern rebels attacked the palace, when Maxon was going to announce who he was going to propose to, when the southern rebels came Maxon took a bullet for America and America found him underneath the table and even though they had gotten into a big fight America quickly ran over to him and tried to stop the bleeding, and they thought they were going to lose each other and they told each how much they loved each other. I knew from right there that they both loved each
