Public service is provided by government to people living within its jurisdiction, either directly or by financing provision of services. Many who try to make the world a better place tend to pursue careers in public service. There are many types of careers to choose from when looking into a career in public service such as: firefighter, police officer, social worker, school counselors, and many more. Many public service careers require at least a bachelor’s degree. Police officers are members of the public service industry in America and in other country, they receive special training, face dangerous challenges, and have one of the most dangerous in the country.

Usually when thinking about what a police officer does there can be a misunderstanding because of what the public sees on a television show or on the news. People tend to usually think of police officers as only writing speeding tickets to meet a monthly quota but know that is illegal (Porter 2012). A police officers job usually entails investigations of assaults, and usually dealing with citizens under the influence. Over the weekend having the pleasure to speak to a police officer while waiting for a tow truck I got to ask him a few questions about his job. Officer Clayton Wilson accompanied us for about an hour while waiting for a tow truck to come to the rescue. We spoke about crime in the area and speeding tickets. He actually told us that he rarely issued a speeding ticket he could only remember a few because he uncommonly issued them. He stated that he usually only issued tickets for minor things. He also stated that there really wasn’t a lot of action going on in his jurisdiction and that there really wasn’t any action like there were in other counties. He was a lucky
