In the book Bud Not Buddy, Bud is an orphan that is fighting to find his what is supposed to be his father. Throughout this book he has many challenges like hunger, the Amos family (which is a family that treats bud very incompetently), being alone, but he finds love in this book. He use his rules to thrive. e uses them to get out of awkward situations and out of getting blamed and embarrassed. Here in the book, Bud is remembering the rule 83. He is sitting down with his mom and she said that if a door closes another one opens, but before she could even say something Bud automatically thinks that she is gonna say something bad. he's not, she is doing the exact opposite. In fact she was just trying to teach him a life lesson. He later on uses this information to his advantage.
