In the story “A Single Shard”, twelve-year-old Tree-ear is the main character. One of Tree-ear’s strengths is that is very thoughtful of his friend, Crane-man. Tree-ear thinks and treats others nicely. One could think Tree-ear is very thoughtful. An example that supports that Tree-ear is very thoughtful is,"Tree-ear’s plan was to eat only half his food, leave the bowl hidden somewhere, and take the other home to crane man at the end of the day.".
