What is a Hero? A hero is someone who has a heart. Someone who has a heart cares about someone or something so they feel the need to protect it. Being a hero doesn't simply mean being the good guy and destroying all the bad ones. A hero is “ a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” Nothing in that definition talks about destroying the villains. Ponyboy is a hero because he was always looking out for his friends and he puts others before himself. Johnny is a hero because he rescued people and puts the needs of others first. Even though Johnny may not look like a hero, in my opinion, I think he was the strongest and the bravest out of all of them. Dally had a heart when he found out Johnny and Ponyboy were escaping, he helped them by giving them, food, clothing, and a shelter. Everyone has a very important thing they care about, they have this longing to protect it and always keep it safe. For Dally that precious thing was Johnny which is quite shocking because Johnny and Dally were the opposite of each other. Dally tried his best to protect Johnny at all times. When Johnny was saving the kids from a fire Dally helped Johnny and he even got hurt doing it. He wanted Johnny to be safe, so much that it was almost as if Johnny was the reason he was breathing and living. When Johnny passed away Dally was so devastated cause he probably felt like a huge piece of his life was taken away. Johnny helped bring out some of the good in Dally so without Johnny he felt like there was no reason to live. Sadly after the death of Johnny Dally couldn't take it any more so he wanted to dies but he didn't want to do it suicidally. Dally died fearlessly. Heros usually die a fearless
