The Haitian and Latin American Revolutions were the most alike because they were both colony revolts, had solid racial structures and hierarchies, and resulted in abolished slavery. Haiti, then known as St. Dominique, was a French colony with 90% of the population slaves. Haiti provided 40% of Europe’s sugar and 60% of its coffee, which was extremely important to the French and all of Europe. The Latin American Revolution consisted of colonies that European powers owned after Christopher Columbus discovered and colonized them. The people of the colonies were enslaved and also worked on plantations, the Europeans took sugar and other crops from them and used the slaves to work in mines.

The Latin American revolution as well as the Haitian revolution were led to gain independence from the colonial power of France, Spain, and Portugal. The Latin American revolution led by Simon Bolivar and the Haitian Revolution have both similarities and differences as they both started due to the want for political, economic and social changes. The French, Haitian, and American Revolutions were all sparked from the minds of the colonists, slaves, or lower classes who were treated with inequality by their own governments. In each location, there was a noticeable trend of mistreatment between government and people. In Haiti, slaves brought over by the French who captured the island, and forced them into brutal labor in what was the most valuable and wealthy are at the time. The government and leadership in France was corrupt as they were in much debt. King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette lived in Versailles far from the other forms of government, abusing the country wealth.
I believe that the French, Haitian and American Revolution were similar and different in many ways. The revolutions had important leaders, George Washington, Napoleon and Toussant L’Oerture. I feel that they were socially similar because of the Enlightenment, which was a source of inspiration for change. They where also similar in political way because they all had constitutions. I fell that there was a social difference between these revolutions because Haiti was more focused on freedom for the slaves rather than independence.
The years 1750-1900 are better known as the Revolution Era. During this time period, there were several revolutions that occurred throughout the developing world. Two of the main revolutions were the French Revolution and the Latin American Revolution. Both revolutions followed the anatomy of a revolution and had comparable causes, however the French Revolution politically better outcomes, whereas the Latin American Revolution resulted in poverty and lost territory.
Comparative Essay The late 18th and 19th century brought about the French and Haitian Revolutions. Both revolutions were connected to each other because of the link between France and Haiti, known then as St Domingue. However, there were also differences as far as political, economic and social causes were concerned. One of the political causes of the French revolution was the weak monarchy.

The Treaty of Paris was signed by representatives of King George III from Great Britain and the United States in the city for which it was named, Paris, France. The Treaty of Paris was a significant compromise because it brought a formal conclusion to the American Revolution, recognized America 's Independence from the British monarchy, and outlined new borders for United States territory.

An event the American Revolution is similar to is the Arab Spring which occurred in the Middle East during 2010. Although in widely different times and location, the American Revolution and the Arab Spring have many aspects in common. First, there was the similar cause of an oppressive government with the Middle East containing multiple dictatorships. Also, the Arab Spring had a similar short term effect because democracy was introduced into the region which was a new structure for the people. However, the long term effects have yet to fully play out and really change the region.
Mexico and Cuba underwent major revolutions led by rebels who opposed their current presidents. The revolutionaries in both countries were mainly concerned with the industrialization and modernization that was occurring within their countries. The uprisings resulted in the countries shared beliefs against foreign imperialism, against elites having so much control on their counties and push for land reforms. In the long run Mexico faired better after their revolution than Cuba. Cuba still experiences hostile tensions with the U.S. today and still practices rationing.
In our history there have been many wars, revolutions, and consequences to all of these things, such as lives lost or land being destroyed but it was all worth it when they succeeded and got what they wanted, freedom. Many countries go through revolutions because they might have been under rule from another person and or country and wanted their independence. A revolution is when people overthrow a social order or even a government and are in favor of a new system or government. The American Revolution and Haitian Revolution had some similarities and some differences and this is what my argument will be about, comparing and contrasting both revolutions.
The American Revolution was a war fought by American colonies to gain independence from the British control. The American Revolution was caused by a series of events. It all started with the French and Indian War in 1754. At the end of the war, King George III issued the proclamation of 1763 which prohibited colonists to settle beyond the Appalachian Mountains, many colonists took great offense at this order. The war between Britain and France caused Britain to be deeply in debt and demanded tax from the colonies.
People said, “He is capable of making a decision and sticking to it.” Revolutions are caused by lack of freedom, lack of rights and lack of equality. Sergey Uvarov said, “Without love for the faith of its ancestors, a person, just as an individual, is bound to perish.” The Mexican revolution was fought because the people wanted to have more freedom from the Spanish. The Saint Domingue revolution was fought because the people there wanted freedom from the French.
The two Latin American countries that suffered severe political, economic, and social repercussions after the revolution was Mexico and Cuba. The Mexican revolution was defying authority and protesting the dictatorship of Porfirio Diaz due to the great injustices faced upon his rule over the country. On the other hand Cuba was dealing with Fulgencio Batista who was oppressing the country and committed many atrocities toward his people, although Fidel Castro was planning his downfall to seize power during the upcoming elections.
