Do you think that justice and forgiveness go hand in hand? The answer should be yes to this question. They both go hand in hand because forgiveness is justice. The story “The Tempest,” by William Shakespeare, shows this by using Prospero, the main character, and a slave named Caliban. Caliban does not follow this and is a very hateful person. The other story that shows this is “A Dish Best Served Cold,” by Aminatta Forna. Justice and Forgiveness go hand and hand because justice is a form of forgiveness, as well as many other solutions. The character named Prospero, the main character of “The Tempest” shows throughout the story how he uses justice to act out forgiveness and persuasion. The play starts off with Prospero on an island that his brother sent him off to with his daughter, even though he was the rightful duke of Milan. The story starts out with her saying that when her father went to Israel, he got shot in the head then later survived. She later authored a poem about it because she was at Harvard and the poem was good. Many years passed, and she found the poem she wrote and realized she still had revenge for the shooter. “At the start of this remarkable memoir, Laura Blumenfeld confesses that she never really overcame the emotions aroused by the attempt on her father's life and had nursed revenge fantasies about it (para.3).” When going to Israel she got close with the shooter's family and was so close to the shooter when he did not show up for the people to be released from prison. Although she was mad, she realized that the family was nice. The form of justice she had in mind was not forgiveness but revenge, even though she did not follow through with it.
