A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes is a short poem with a story inside that is long and full of hidden details that explain the willingness of one to accomplish his or her dreams. The use of A Dream Deferred is used in different ways when it appears in many forms of media. Two examples of this are seen in a 2008 Nike Commercial and a Reading by Khandi Alexander. Both broadcasts use the poem, and because of this, both can be similar as they are online and reach out to an audience with the topic of goals. But, one should be cautious when comparing two pieces of media. But, to do that, the process to get there is tough and someone will have to face problems and roadblocks while trying to achieve it. Both forms of media are similar in other ways too, with music and imagery being used. The support of music happens with cues that are played in the background. For example, After the graduation at the end of the reading or Sanya Richards-Ross running at the end of the 2008 Nike commercial, the music uplifted the tone, and the goal was achieved. And the images and visuals that appear throughout both videos are dull, calm, or possibly sad until the end. That's when the dreams explode and it's happy and exciting. And finally, both of these pieces of media are similar because, in the end, they both project the main idea of the poem. Which is, matter what struggles or problems we face if we keep going, we can make it to where we want to be. And, everyone should care about this because any achievement, goal, or award in life has to be won. The second place won’t work out because a winner has to be in first and to achieve your goals, you must be on top of what you want to
