A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is a story about a girl named Pip doing a high school capstone project on the murder of Andie Bell. Andie Bell's murder had occurred 5 years ago in the town of Fairview, Connecticut. It had always been blamed on Sal Singh, her boyfriend at the time. Pip along with the help of Ravi Singh, Sal's brother, attempt to prove Sal's innocence and determine the true murderer. Throughout the book, many secrets are uncovered about Andie Bell and potential witnesses by them. Some people try to protect their secrets at any cost by trying to stop Pip from digging deeper. My first passage comes from Chapter 7 on page 68. Pip and Ravi are walking in the woods talking about the Andie Bell case. Once they reach Pip's front door Ravi starts talking about her capstone project, ‘I want to make a deal with you…Yeah, I want in on this… I never had a chance, but you actually might. You're an outsider to the case, you have this school project excuse to open doors. People might actually talk to you. You might be my chance to find out what really happened. I've waited so long for a chance.’ This conversation between Pip and Ravi gives Pip the opportunity for more evidence and inside information from Sal's brother. Pip is in someone's office printing a page that will play a key role in what happened to Andie Bell on April 18th. The narrator states, “ The printer clacked behind her and she flinched. It hissed, sucking in the top piece of paper. She moved toward it as it started to sputter the page through, a glimpse of fresh black ink, upside down. The printer finished and spat it out. Pip reached for it. She turned around. This is your final warning, Pippa.” This paper shows Pip who played a major part in the murder of Andie Bell.
