Have you ever read a book that described a scene so vividly that it almost felt real? This is called imagery; one of the many literary devices that authors use to enhance the reader’s experience. In the short story “A Kind of Murder”, Hugh Pentecost uses these devices effectively to augment and make the reader’s experience more authentic. One of the ways that Pentecost makes effective use of these is to depict events in great detail.
