Literary Analysis By: Harper Mower The Hunger Games and The Goonies are alike and different in their approach to the Hero's journey. The call to adventure, mentor helper, and crossing the threshold each have a number of similarities and differences. Each illustrates how the Hero's Journey can be adapted in various texts and stories. There are many similarities and differences in the call to adventure. A difference between The Hunger Games and The Goonies is one didn´t really think of what to do and the other did. When they pulled out Prim´s name for The Hunger Games Katniss didn´t really think and panicked when they called prims name and volunteered to go instead of Prim. A similarity is that they are both leaving for a place they don´t know. Katniss is going to The Hunger Games and she has never been there before. In The Goonies they are going to an old creepy restaurant that they have never seen before or been to. A difference between The Hunger Games and The Goonies is one parent knows that they are leaving for their adventure and leaving and the other doesn´t know. Katniss´s family knows she is leaving and going away for her adventure. But in The Goonies they leave and go away on their adventure and the parents don´t even know. The Last similarity is that in The Hunger Games and The Goonies, both have people to support them during hard times in their adventure. Katniss has her sister and her mom and Peeta to support her during The Hunger Games when Katniss hurts her head Peeta supports her and helps her. In The Goonies Mikey and The Goonies have each other to support them during their journey. When they were at the piano they supported Andy and each other. There were multiple similarities and differences in the call to
