The production ‘Chores´ had a fantastic impact on the audience. It successfully covered all elements of drama into the production
In turn, the play’s musical adaptation emphasizes the importance of lyrical and instrumental music enabling the audience’s mood to be transformed from an outside perspective to an inside
I had the opportunity to perform in Metamorphoses By Mary Zimmerman. This play tells many stories about the greek gods and goddesses. Some of these stories I found myself familiar with and some were new unknowns. This play features some greek characters that many individuals know of and consequently many individuals that I have never heard.
The play was Our American Cousin at Ford’s Theatre. I remember being so excited to go because I absolutely loved going to plays… Not anymore though. Abraham sat me down and told me that people at work had been trying to talk him out of going. He asked me if I still wanted to go, but I said yes. We were both looking forward to this for a very long time.
One day, my theater group was holding auditions for the Ugly Duckling. When I walked on stage in front of the judges, my heart was pounding in my ears and my hands were trembling. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and delivered the monologue I had prepared. When I was finished, I felt instant relief, although I was not very optimistic about getting the part I had tried out for. However, the next week, when I came to my theater group, I looked up at the audition board and was shocked.
My group for this assignment consisted of Kirill, Olivea and Fahad. We chose the pages 83-89 of A Midsummer’s Night Dream to bring to life. In this part of the book, Puck and Oberon realize they messed up. Then, Hermia accuses Demetrius of killing Lysander. Finally, Oberon and Puck both try to fix their mistake.
My passion for theater blossomed when I entered High School, I was one of those kids who didn’t automatically fit in with the rest of the group. I was different and I knew it, I just didn’t
I really enjoyed reading The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time because it is a story that doesn’t often get told. For the most part, we know surface level details about special needs individuals, they attend the same schools as us, they work among us, but in many ways their world is completely separate from our own reality, and more often than not is a silent one. The Curious Incident provides a different outlook on these individuals, it forces the audience to feel, and empathize with Christopher rather than detach ourselves through facts and information. Not only was the play in some ways ground breaking, but there was also good humor and also made Christopher’s story have normalcy to it as well. I believe that sometimes we tend
Through its powerful performances and evocative writing, the play continues to resonate with audiences today, making it one of the most enduring and important works of American
On March 28th, I had the pleasure of attending the Broadway show called “The Play That Goes Wrong,” located at the Lycuem Theatre on 149 West 45th Street. On this particular Tuesday evening, I just had a vibe that something wrong was going to happen in this play – shockingly. I did believe this play will truly be memorable judging by the fun quirk of the show’s name. After watching the performance for about two hours, I can conclude that this play went beyond my expectation as its set disasters and characters amusingly caught the attention of me and the rest of the audience.
In plays, no one arrives or leaves from the stage without contributing in some way to the complexity of the play. Considering two or three plays you have studied, compare the impact on meaning of some arrivals and departures from the stage. Characters invest the play with human interest, as they provide an added element to the plot. Set in a post World War II ambiance, ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’, by Tennessee Williams, he focuses upon his own personal demons embedded into the characters embarking on a metaphorical self-journey of destruction ironic to the title itself.
Literary masterpieces are all around us in the world. The most famous of these are the ones that have stood the test of time even after hundreds of years. A Midsummer’s Night Dream is a story that most have heard in one way or another, whether in a remediation or by seeing the play themselves. The love of the characters in this play, while seemingly innocent enough, is the result of completely unnatural tampering. The fairies broke a moral boundary by faking the love of the four humans.
On the day of the play, I dressed up wearing my nice pants and a dress shirt, and drove to downtown San Francisco scheduling my time so I can be sure to be on time in the theater. When I arrived to ACT, I went in handed my ticket, received a copy of the program from a nice lady and
As a result, the experience of Shakespeare’s plays in the theater took a populist turn” (Octane 1). This shows that Shakespeare brought many new elements to playwriting, which seemingly improved plays because “Audience members engaged with the events taking place on stage, becoming vocal and often raucous” (Octane 1). This suggests that the new elements in Shakespeare’s writing sparked emotion in audience members as if the events were real. If an author can spark emotion in so many audience members, it shows that their writing style is extremely effective. Additionally, “Shakespeare is also credited as having invented genres that mixed both tragedy and comedy.
In the twenty-first century, the plays of William Shakespeare may at first appear dated and irrelevant: they use archaic language, are set in the age of Kings and Queens, and the Kingdom of England. However, it would be plainly mistaken to construe that Shakespeare’s works do not still remain integral to a twenty-first century society. Shakespeare’s plays gave the words and expressions one uses every day, revolutionized the art of theater as it was known, and forewarned about issues that would unknowingly still apply centuries later. Therefore, Shakespeare has had a profound effect on our lives by enriching our language and culture, as well as providing ideas that would still apply five centuries later, and it would thus behoove us to learn from his works and life.
