1. My initial impression of this story is that it is a love drama caused by a controlling father. 2. The genres of this selection are comedy, fantasy, romance, and farce. 3. The exposition of this selection is a father, Egeus, wants his daughter Hermia, to marry Demetrius, but he is in love with Hermia’s best friend, Helena and Hermia is in love with Lysander. After sneaking off to the forest Lysander and Hermia were given a love potion by the fairies that would cause them to love the first person they saw upon wakening. The plan ultimately backfired, and the couples ended up with who they first loved. The rising action is Hermia and Lysander going into the forest and being followed by Demetrius and Helena. The climax is when all of the characters quarrel in the forest. The falling action takes place when the love potion is removed from the characters and they fall in love with the person they …show more content…

The protagonist is Hermia because if she did not marry the man he father chose she would be executed, and all of the events in this selection revolved around this problem. The antagonist would be Hermia's father Egeus because his desire to make his daughter marry the man he chose cause all the drama. 5. Hermia is fearful of her father. She is disobedient of her fathers wishes. She is loyal to Helena by not wanting to marry the man she loves. 6. There are two distinct settings in this selection. The story begins in the city of Athens. This setting represents real world actions and consequences. The second setting a forest a few miles outside of town. This setting represents fantasies and dreams. 7. The author chose to emphasize certain details of the setting to create imagery. The beginning of the story is in Athens. This is a place of law and order. Later the story takes place in the forest with the fairies. This is a place of fantasy and dreams, having lush forestry and wonder in magic and faries. 8. The story is narrated in third person by an omniscient story
