A piece of literature that I found interesting was a story by Mary Rowlandson. Mary Rowlandson "A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration" was a remarkable story. Mary's story gives you a personal feel of what she went through when she was captured and kept for ransom. Her work was inspirational and very heartfelt. As she tells her readers about her hardships she also sets a seldom tone. In the beginning of the story, she described how the Native American soldiers knocked a man upside the head; he begged them for mercy and offered them money but it was not enough. Thus, then they ripped open his bowels. This I would say was a very vivid description that she stated. I could just picture this happening in my mind.

Once they destroyed her town they took the rest of the living and injured hostages including her children and her thus took them on a journey through the wilderness. Rowlandson witnessed many deaths she realized that she was lucky to be alive. She put her faith in God hoping that she would one day reunite with the remaining of her children. Mary’s motive for writing this story I believe was to tell a story about the trials and unforeseen occurrences that anybody can go through, but you have to put your faith in God. The message that Mary Rowlandson was trying to get her readers to understand was the uncertainty of life and how having faith in God kept her strong.
