The article Young at Heart: A Perspective for Advancing Research on Play in Adulthood identifies and explains the benefits and importance of play in adulthood. In addition, the article discusses the different types of benefits of play like: immediate and long-term relational and personal outcomes of play. The authors also mention that the play behaviors are fun, enthusiastic and interactive, which result in one of the long or immediate term benefits. Secondly, the authors emphasize and describe how play creates closer relationships. Furthermore, the authors explain how play in adulthood can improve friendships, romantic and sibling relationships. Furthermore, the authors’ mention that “It is important to note that play can take many forms (cooperative, competitive, novel, familiar, planned, spontaneous, creative, idiosyncratic, physical, structured) and thus vary on other dimensions […]” (Feeney and Vleet, 2015, p. 640). I agree with this statement because from personal experience, play for me has been different every time like: creative, spontaneous and structured.
